TRAVEL PLANS I & II

TRAVEL PLAN I

The road runs as far as she can see, changing
from gravel to a long ribbon of black into infinity,
bounded only by subtle blending of
land and sky on the horizon.

A bee buzzes off to her right among morning glories
on the trellis whose periwinkle blue faces
draw into the 45 degree angle
of the sun.

She leans against the front porch banister on her left,
Her eyes bright with anticipation,
Contemplating what wonders
lay at the end of the road.

Summer breeze blankets
provides warm comfort,
arousing memories of
another day, another time.

TRAVEL PLAN II

She stands on the front porch
looking as far down the
road as an eye can see.
Wondering.

Wondering how it would be
to walk down that road,
walking to who knows where.
Discovering.

Discovering different places,
different faces, but continuing
down that road.
Imagining.

Imagining not coming back,
not returning to familiar
places, familiar faces.
Reflecting.

Reflecting on her unknown
self who no longer understands
who she is or where she is.
Smiling.
