MORNING HYMN

Awake to the sound of a mockingbird.
it's glorious song fills the spirit.

Awake to the sound of a crying babe,
beckoning arms to hold and comfort.

Awake to the sound of a coffee pot,
enticement to go to the kitchen.

Awake to the sound of a soft meow,
warm nudges seeking companionship.

Awake to the sound of boistrous children,
enough energy for two dozen.

Awake to the sound of scolding squirrels
telling others to keep their distance.

Awake to the sound of soft warm breezes
gently lifting billowing curtains.

Awake to the sound of distant music,
invoking memories of the past.

A hymn to begin the day.
