Truth, ever present
often hides beneath lies.
Mother used to
describe folks who
“deliberately lie
when telling the truth
would be easier.”
I’ve met those folks.
They lie to explain themselves.
They lie to negate others.
They lie to defend themselves.
They lie to destroy others.
They lie to glorify themselves.
Truth, always present
often hides behind
a cloak of deceit.
